No sound below 35%

Post by Renate »

Running mpd 0.21.5, mpc 0.21.4, fresh installed on RPi.
I'm using ALSA and a $8 USB audio adapter (C-Media USB Headphone Set).

Code: Select all

$ amixer set Headphone 23
  Limits: Playback 0 - 151
  Front Left: Playback 23 [15%] [-24.06dB] [on]
  Front Right: Playback 23 [15%] [-24.06dB] [on]
$ mpc
volume: 40%
$ mpc volume 35
volume: 35%
$ amixer get Headphone
  Limits: Playback 0 - 151
  Front Left: Playback 4 [3%] [-27.63dB] [on]
  Front Right: Playback 4 [3%] [-27.63dB] [on]
So what and where is doing the remapping of the volume curve and how can I change that?

Your MPD version is very old and unsupported.
See https://www.musicpd.org/download-unoff-debian/ for how to get current MPD versions for Raspbian.

Nope, the upgrade didn't change anything.

Code: Select all

$ mpd --version
Music Player Daemon 0.21.22 (0.21.22)
$ mpc version
mpd version: 0.21.11
$ mpc volume 38
volume: 38%
$ mpc volume 32
volume:  0%

Um, so you're saying that I shouldn't use the Help forum but instead the IRC or file a bug report or...

You know, this used to work fine with a much older version, but I had to reinstall.

No, I'm not saying that. I wonder why you would think that - maybe because you havn't really read the page I linked to?

Actually, I did read that page.
I still have no idea how you would like me to proceed.

So what does that page say?
"When you do request help, post the following data"
Did you read that?
