Slow switching between the tracks

I observe slow switching between the tracks on my RPI2 MPD player.
For example when I press next or previous track I wait 4 sec. (in case of 16/44,1kHz flac files) and about 14 sec (in case of 16/384kHz files). It is strange because when I load .cue file (which is treated as playlist) the switching between the tracks is instantaneous.
I use MPD's satellite setup with newest MPD 0.22.11 on RPI2 and samba server machine.
RPI2 is connected to the server via wifi. WIFI signal is strong:

Code: Select all

wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:"XXX" Nickname:"<WIFI@REALTEK>"
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.432 GHz Access Point: 18:F4:6A:30:AE:50
          Bit Rate:72.2 Mb/s Sensitivity:0/0
          Retry:off RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality=100/100 Signal level=94/100 Noise level=0/100
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
Here is my RPI2 software details.
Maybe my configuration files /etc/etc.conf need adjustment to speed up tracks switching?

Here is copy of mpd.conf on RPI2 side
Here is copy ofmpd.conf on server side.
Please have a look and advise.

BTW is there any way to rescan/update music database from satellite machine? (in my case RPI2)
Currently I can update music database only from the server. It would be very helpful if it could be done also from satellite machine.

I've just set up the next two MPD players on the wifi hosts in my home network.
I installed the newest MPD on debian buster on RPI4 and BeagleBone Black (BBB) machines.

Unfortunately I have the same issue I described in the first post e.g.: slow switching between the tracks.
Below I'm describing the issue on the BBB example (RPI4 is similar).

On BBB as a client I use ncmpcpp 0.8.2
I added to the playlist two flac's 16/44.1 albums. One album is located in the separated directory as one flac file= one track. The second album is added as a cue sheet with one, large, combine flac file. the tracks info (start, stop duration) is hidden in the cue file.
Both albums are stored on the same HDisk mounted to the server machine and available as samba share.
When I select or switch tracks from the cuesheet album the switching is instantaneous and I'm happy.
But when I select (or switch) track from 'one track to one file' album it takes 5-7 sec. The ncmpcpp shows 'Timeout" for a while and the song finally begins... but It is very annoying.

Maybe I just need some tweaks in my /etc/mpd.conf files?
Please see details in the first post and below.
I enclose also logs from described tracks switching of two albums.
Please advice how to fix it.
Thanks and regards,

This is an old thread but maybe someone who has encountered similar issue will read this...?
So the cause of the slow tracks selection and switching in the satellite mode/setup was the network protocol. I selected samba smb:// protocal which works tribe with mpd (at least to mpd version 0.21.22). The nfs:// "Network File System" turned out to be much more reliable and above all very fast. After switching from smb:// to nfs:// there is no longer an irritating delay.
Some configuration in another thread:
