MPD, GMPC and NAS

It's great to find the forum and read about all the folks who have mpd working.

I'm trying to get it working under the following environment:

mpd, Debian Jessie and a NAS, DNS 323 with Alt-F. And GMPC.

I can connect to the server, play a song or two, but can't hear anything off my laptop. I'm using pulse audio.

Here is my mpd.conf file:

GMPC is not an audio player. It is a remote control for MPD.

first of all, i have my doubts that your mpd is working, because that config has errors causing mpd to not even start up. (missing closing brackets for pulse audio output)
second: like said in previous comment. you cant play music on your laptop with gmpc, because gmpc is a remote control and nothing else. As are 99% of all other mpd clients.

you could use pulseaudio to stream to your machine. you already removed the comments from remote server, but havent filled in the ip address, which should be the one of your laptop you want to have sound on.
leave the remote sink commented.

on the laptop make sure pulseaudio is running and that it accepts anonymous network connections (can be set with paprefs)

Sorry to bring up old thread, I was after help on confuguring MPD on the DNS-323 NAS, looks there was some success maybe, unsure.

Trying to with MPDroid App to mpd services on a DNS-323 using ALT-F firmware

Was advise to edit the mpd.conf with the location of music DIR and run script to configure under >services>user>mpd - hit [StartNow] to configure

I ran below:
# mpd --no-daemon --stdout --verbose
config: loading file /etc/mpd.conf
Failed to bind to '[::]:6600': Failed to create socket: Address family not supported by protocol

I am a linux newbie by the way so little confused and would appreciate any pointers or if there another MPD Andriod app better to use/test connection.
