How to actually get help

Hi and welcome! We'd love to be able to help everyone here, but some people make it very hard. Don't be those people and follow these simple guidelines:
  • If you believe that MPD behaved incorrectly: explain what you did, what you thought should happen, and what happened instead.
  • Post all relevant details; that may include the output of "mpd --version", your config file (with passwords censored), any relevant logfiles, error messages, etc.
  • If you're looking for "official" support, please note that only the most recently released stable version of MPD qualifies for support from the developers themselves. Sadly, it takes quite some time for Linux distributions to pick up new releases. If you encounter problems with an old version but don't want to update to something not covered by your distribution, either seek help from your distribution vendor, or see if "unofficial" help from fellow MPD users in this forum can't help you anyway.
Please be aware that we can't guarantee official support here. If you want to be sure to get a response from the developers, try the mailing list.
In any case, good luck with getting your problems solved!
