Playlist vs Play directly

Post by OverrRyde »

Hi guys, looking more for some info than help.

I just installed MPD on my headless home server running Ubuntu. Everything works fine and i tried out a few Android apps to control it. Everything works perfectly fine.

However, i was wondering if there is another way to play music instead of having to add my files to playlist? I was thinking more of being able to play a file when selecting it, instead of it being added to the playlist. Right now, whenever i select a particular song, it adds it to a playlist instead of playing it right away. I have used 3 different apps (MPDroid, Droid MPC Client and MPD Control)

I this a limitation (by design) of MPD or a limition or missing feature from my particular client?

Thanks for the help!

the "playlist" is actually MPDs queue. So in short: no

In MPDroid, you can click and hold on the file you intend to listen to. From there a menu will allow you to play it directly.
