Re: mpd raspberry pi install

@max, yes distrib packages are always quite old. And I can understand how frustrating it can be to work actively on a project but have to wait years before seeing improvements in the packages of stable distro releases. But on the other hand, it's an utopia to expect from a linux beginner to compile...

first of all, this is the wrong place for bug reports. use http://bugs.musicpd.org
but your version is totally unsupported anyway.
All your complaints have most likely been fixed already, so there is nothing that can be done here...

Re: Album booklet in GMPC (or other MPD client) ?

no... if you save them with a strict naming scheme (e.g. artist-album.pdf) you can easily create script that will open the file in pdf viewer... example: #!/bin/bash pdfpath=/path/to/your/pdffiles viewer=evince $viewer "$pdfpath"/"$(mpc current --format '%artist%-%album%')".pdf make it executable an...

Re: Walkthrough: Install MPD from Source as a daemon on Ubun

there are some very bad instructions there. first of all you run every single command with sudo, which is potentially dangerous, NEVER do that. then you claim to backup mpd, which you do not. You simply copy the mpd binary, but that binary is linked to several libraries. Copying back that binary at ...

Of course every server needs to listen on its own port, have its own log files and so on.

Re: MPD and TVHeadend...

This should play fine, if your mpd is built with ffmpeg support. Anyway, personally I would remux that audio into a proper container. How can I explicitely activate ffmpeg support? The Gstreamer-Bad plugin also plays the stream fine. gstreamer has nothing to do with mpd. mpd --version will tell you...

Re: Deinstall MPD impossible

this is not a mpd issue at all. its the stupid ubuntu package manager.
Please ask your distributions support how to solve this issue.

While I dont think its related, kill mpd manually (killall mpd or maybe killall -9 mpd)
then try to purge the package again.

MPD stores mtime values in its database. The only client that can use this info is ncmpcpp, as far as i know.

this is not a mpd issue, but a systemd issue. you obviously want to run that systemd unit as the correct user.
