Re: Playing audio without MPD database on Windows

mpd cannot save files that are not in database to playlists
neither can it read file:/// URI from playlist files

there are various scripts though floating around to work around it.

General question about tags in MPD

Accidently deleted original post. Question was if MPD supports more than the hardcoded list in its database. Answer is, yes mpd can read all tags, but only a handful of those are actually cached in database. in theory mpd clients can use the readcomments command to request tags from a file URI. in p...

Re: MPD - without database

First: This needs to happen via unix socket, as max pointed out.
So make sure you defined a socket file in mpd.conf and use mpc over this.

Code: Select all

MPD_HOST=/path/to/your/socket mpc add file:///file/to/play.flac
also this will not work with wildcards, so you need to write a little wrapper

Re: If Next uses crossfade?

There was a patch against some mpd version back then, but sadly the creator never bothered to write it against master branch:

Re: Volume-Control

its most likely caused by the wrong mixer_device setting in mpd.conf. Some soundcards don't even have a mixer.
You can work around it by setting mixer_type to "software". This comes with a theoretical decrease in quality, which I highly doubt
any human has ever noticed :)

it would be great if you could bisect this. i know for a fact that minidlna and mpd worked fine together, but sometime it stopped working.

Re: attempting to stream aac(p) crashes mpd 0.19-1 on archli

that wiki is deprecated. but the gdb section of that page is perfectly fine
Also, at least for arch linux, this soon wont be needed anymore, since arch linux will get seperate debug packages.

Re: attempting to stream aac(p) crashes mpd 0.19-1 on archli

drooly, excuse him, he is not too good with these things :P anyway, what you need to do is the following: recompile mpd (using abs for example), make sure to add "options=(!strip) to the PKGBUILD file and also change the make command to "CFLAGS=-g make" run makepkg -is to install the package. now in...
