MPD supports SACD-ISO's?

According to this bugreport: http://bugs.musicpd.org/view.php?id=3952 it should be possible to playback SACD-ISO's with MPD. I tried it with version 0.18.8 but its not even possible to see the ISO-file. Am i doing something wrong? It would be very comfortable to access audio-data in this format. PS:...

Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

Ok, you are totally right, with the correct setting in .config MPD is able to find the mpd.conf. One should think, that MPD puts the conf-file somewhere where it can find it when it needs it, but anyway. After that i installed a new user "mpd" with the password "mpd" and come to a new error: ...

Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

Well, thats a misunderstanding.
I thought the default value for sysconfdir is ok. Which sysconfdir should i take? I can't find anything about that in the manual.

"sudo checkinstall" instead of "make install" is ok?

Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

Well, i feel a little bit like being the fool here, but once again - another night, another fortune... :? 1. I deinstalled the obviously not working version of mpd. This means i open the package-management and remove the MPD-package --> ok 2. I download the file "mpd-0.18.8.tar.xz" once again. Is th...

Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

OK, not so easy... First i looked for systemd --> the package "systemd-services" is already installed. Is this the correct one or are there also others? And second, "./configure --help" does not give anything back when written in the console. So i changed directory to "/home/abc/Downloads/mpd-0.18.8...

Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

Thanks for the help max! It seems, that systemd is not part of Lubuntu (=Ubuntu). So i will try to install it. When i re-compile MPD after that, do you think the start-sript will be generated, as it should? Where can i find the value of sysconfdir? Sorry for the stupid question, but i'm not so deep ...

Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

Well, it seems, that MPD installed as it should, but cannot start, because a start-script is missing. But thats not the main problem - when i try to start MPD just with "mpd" it tells me "cmdline: No configuration file found". But the mpd.conf is, as usual, at "/etc". I read the manpages and there i...

Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

Hmmmmm, after 2 hours of compiling, i think MPD is totally messed up on my system. I have no idea whats going wrong. I downloaded the actual version 0.18.8 and did the steps which are listed in the install-file. Only the last point "install" did not work out and i tried "checkinstall" from another g...

Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

In your other thread, Ran told you that this Ubuntu repository has nothing to do with this project, but it appears you didn't listen to him. I listen to him very well, but i didn't want to believe it... :P So i think it's my mistake - i'm not a pro in Linux and normally i use programs which can be ...

Where are the MPD-repositories?

Just a short question to you all: I am using MPD on a Lubuntu 13.10-system. The MPD-version in the original Ubuntu-repos is totally outdated, so i took the repository of the git-version. Well, since last December there are no updates anymore, means the repo is broken. I made a ticket in the bug-trac...

Do you think it's useful to open a ticket in the bud-tracker?
I don't think the programmers there are much interested in such things...

Re: No DSD-playback in git-version

@Ran
Sorry to bother you with this, but do you have an idea when the Ubuntu-PPAs are up again?
I'm not so deep into Linux to be able to compile the programs i need and in the meantime i really miss my dsd-music...
Thanks in advance!

Re: best mobile-client for mpd...

@Rasi: Thanks for the explanation. So its the question why the mpd-clients don't have access to the database-filesystem. Would make things easier. But on the other hand - its not that difficult to install the webserver and it works out very well. @Ran: In the meantime, i received my Nexus 10 and use...

Re: No DSD-playback in git-version

@Ran:
Thanks for the message! Otherwise i wouldn't have any idea why there are no more updates. It seems that the programmers don't even know, that there is something broken?!
So, let's hope, that the PPA will soon work again!

Re: No DSD-playback in git-version

Hi there,
the programmer cirrus has set the DSD-bug to fixed in the actual git-version of mpd.
But here at my place there is no new git-version?!
Have the repositories changed? What repos do you use?

It's a little strange to me, that the developers don't test the software sometimes?!

Do you think it is possible, that they do not know? I would rather think, they don't care, because it's not that important?!

No DSD-playback in git-version

Hi there,
since the last update about Christmas it seems, that the DSD-playback is broken in the git-version of MPD. Kann somebody confirm this problem or is it a problem of my PC?
If it's really broken, would it be useful to open a ticket in the bug-tracker for it?

Re: sudo service mpd restart

Yes, autostart was always a pain in the ass... :P I'm also more or less newbie in Linux and i'm running Lubuntu, but maybe my solution helps you: With the last version (13.10) Lubuntu changed the autostart to a very easy mode. You just have to open the file "/home/<user>/.config/lxsession/Lubuntu/au...
