Re: MPD bind_to_address and db_file setting errors

On the sixth day, you still havn't described your problem. Nobody can help you if you are not cooperative. And now you're whining around for this failure of yours. Why, oh why won't you understand this?

The default value is ok. Unless you want MPD to look in /etc. Which you do.

Your problem is the delta between your expectations of what MPD should do and what you really tell MPD to do.

Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

The mistake is that you did not specify a sysconfdir, even though I told you to.

The value you passed to ./configure --syscondir=...
Check ./configure --help which also tells you the default value if you did not specify one (which I assume).

Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

Well, it seems, that MPD installed as it should, but cannot start, because a start-script is missing. No, it's not missing. The systemd unit file is part of the MPD source distribution and will be installed if you have systemd. But thats not the main problem - when i try to start MPD just with "mpd...

Sigh. I give up. This is a waste of time. I asked you twice which error, but you didn't answer. Good luck.

You repeated yourself, but you still did not tell which error. Hell, you didn't even tell me which MPD version and how you installed it!

Actually, it's not configurable. MPD saves the state file every 5 minutes (hard-coded).

Re: Some way to force MPD to save state without killing it

If you don't receive a signal before powering off, how is a signal that triggers state file save useful? I'd say: SIGTERM triggers that.

(Don't read the Wiki. It's obsolete because it's full of trash.)

Even SysVInit can do dependencies nowadays, and Ubuntu's old-style init script will do the same. What you describe has nothing to do with systemd.

Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

So i was convinced, that all programs for Linux provide repositories to be installed from. That would be a big waste of our time. There are hundreds of Linux distributions, and providing repositories for all of them would bind the time of dozens of full-time developers. We do what we can do best: d...

Re: MPD with M2Tech HiFace USB Interface Protocol error

I am running MPD version 0.16.8 . This MPD version is very outdated and unsupported. Please do not ask for help unless you have the latest MPD version, as people may spend time on figuring out a problem that has been solved already years ago. Re: Where are the MPD-repositories?

In your other thread, Ran told you that this Ubuntu repository has nothing to do with this project, but it appears you didn't listen to him. The repository is not maintained (and never was) by anybody involved in MPD. It was never an "official" MPD repository, only made by some random MPD user. Ther...

This feature has not yet been released. If you want it, compile MPD from git master.
