Re: Will GMPC run without a dektop GUI

@qwin> RTFM ;) Music Player Daemon (MPD) is a flexible, powerful, server-side application for playing music. (...) it can play a variety of sound files while being controlled by its network protocol. Looks like MPD is a kind of client server thingy. Server here you connect your storage and DAC. Netw...

Re: Enabling Bluetooth Audio Output

You have to turn off PulseAudio. 1. Open the ~/.pulse/client.conf file to disable PulseAudio for the current user, OR Open the /etc/pulse/client.conf file to disable PulseAudio for all users. 2. Set the following attribute and ensure the line is not commented out: autospawn = no 3. Call pulseaudio -...

@Christoph> Building BlueALSA from source, installing, systemd startup and usage was pretty straight forward on a headless server. But I can not help with Pulseaudio, sorry.

@max> adding Bluetooth audio devices (and Chromecasts or SnapCast clients) during runtime would be would be pretty cool. :D

Re: Will GMPC run without a dektop GUI

I am considering a music streamer project using minimal Ubuntu on a Odroid C2 with MPD installed. Mission possible. Or stay in the x86 mainstream with some fanless Celeron mainboard. Initially I want to run GMPC on the same C2 to control MPD. X-Windows and with a desktop engine is not a minimal ins...

Re: Enabling Bluetooth Audio Output

The current status quo is, that in order to stream audio from/to a Bluetooth device, one has to install PulseAudio, or use Bluez < 5. However, Bluez version 4 is considered to be deprecated. Possible solution is to use BlueALSA https://github.com/Arkq/bluez-alsa Very basic example config: audio_out...

Re: some URLs in my Playlist stop playing after some seconds

Not able to reproduce with MPD 0.21.2. @schwabinger> your XXX marked urls pointing to very low quality streams (33 kbit/s ogg and 56 kbit/s mp3). Have a look at https://www.br.de/unternehmen/inhalt/technik/hilfe-livestreams-br100.html and https://www.deutschlandradio.de/unsere-streaming-adressen-im-...

Re: curl/GnuTLS error in podcasts

For all the new and exciting features stick with MPD master from git and be the first to report a new bug  Installing MPD into your homedir does not mess up your system. Personally, I prefer the system-wide installation. For starters, just use the compiler parameters and settings from the Debia...

Not able to reproduce
real 0m0,503s (big pipe)
real 0m4.123s (generic dsl)
On the other hand... I would like to see a shorter timeout for my local streaming sources. How about a config option for curl timeout? Let say 1 to 60 seconds?

Re: Format "::2" - how to write properly in mpd.conf

@Volodymyr> What is your intended setup? Multiple MPDs with single audio outputs to to different (stereo) channels? Multiple MPDs audio outputs to stereo? Single MPD distributed to multiple stereo DAC channels?

Search Internet for multichannel or surround ALSA setup.

Re: Possible this in RPI2 and mpd

So, if I understood correctly, it would be best to do the configuration through httpd and, for example, VLC listen to the music. No. Best solution is to avoid streaming and play on local hardware - see Max comment. Use satellite setup. It could be a possibilitat. Right? MPD is not a full blown stre...

MPD clients are remote controls. MPD servers are music players. satellite setup - one MPD server with metadata repository. Music files are shared via CIFS or NFS. - multiple MPD servers without metadata. CIFS or NFS clients eg MPD storage plugins. - each MPD client connects to its own localhost. htt...

Re: No music files displayed

@batsy> your mpd.conf shows port 5800 instead of 6600 default is in use. By default mpc connects to port 6600. Use mpc -p portnumber for nonstandard ports. Maybe port 5800 is already in use for VNC (Virtual Network Computing).
