Re: MPD and Tags

Are you sure about TPE3 and TPE4? Yes. tag_id3_import_text(tag, "TPE3", TAG_PERFORMER, handler, handler_ctx); tag_id3_import_text(tag, "TPE4", TAG_PERFORMER, handler, handler_ctx); TPE3 normally is linked to "Conductor" ... TPE4 normally is for Mix-/Remix-information?! MPD is not a reference implem...

Re: MPD and Tags

Use the source Luke :) See src/tag/TagId3.cxx (scan_id3_tag) TPE3 and TPE4 are mapped to MPD's performer tag.

And does anybody know, what the "name"-tag is for?
I would like to know that, too. No "name" entries in my tag_cache file.

Re: MPD causes buffer underruns

Try a Lubuntu Live CD. Lubuntu is a lightweight Ubuntu flavour without Pulseaudio. Install MPD on live environment and check if error persists.

Receive multicast RTP

MPD together with ffmpeg is able to produce a multcast RTP stream. mpd.conf audio_output { type "pipe" name "Multicast RTP" command "ffmpeg -nostats -re -f s16le -ac 2 -i pipe:0 -acodec pcm_s16be -f rtp rtp://239.9.3.2:5004" format "44100:16:2" } VLC Player connects to stream rtp://239.9.3.2:5004 - ...

Re: Cron job not working as expected.

Do not use absolute paths - mpc insert is relative to your music_directory. Is your mp3 file in your MPD datebase? MPD does inserts from database to playlist. $ mpc -q --wait insert Applescal\ -\ From\ A\ to\ Sea/01\ -\ The\ Winning\ Theme.mp3 Works on commandline #!/bin/bash mpc -q --wait insert Ap...

Re: Local Jukebox (No Internet) with PSA's in park setting

Code: Select all

Only the mysqlite module would not install. All of the others did fine.
Although I had installed sqlite, libsqlite0, and libsqlite0-dev it remained disabled.
MySQL <> SQLite. Try libsqlite3-0 and libsqlite3-dev on your *buntus.

Re: MPD going classical?

With the mentioned solution, there is no need for MPD to store anything in its DB.
Absolutely right but I don't like the proposed solution ;)

Re: MPD going classical?

Another server to store metadata and client software - seems to me overkill.

I already did some work to query and store embedded graphics. Just tell me the ID3 tags you need ( http://id3.org/id3v2.4.0-frames ) and I will provide some patches for MPD.

@Max: is it OK to expand MPDs database?

Re: How to implement multiroom?

Suppose all MPDs are synchronized locally via NTP. Now issue some kind of yet to implement play songid timestamp_in_near_future adjustable_delay command. Latency is not a problem. But mute and volume change should happen immediately. The delay between the playback of each server should be less than ...

Re: How to implement multiroom?

Satellite setup is a clever and simple solution to share metadata between several MPDs. But how to keep multiple audio outputs in sync? CobraNet or EtherSound are a bit overkill for generic rented flat parties. Not to mention the bad WAF of cables ;) Sonos or Chromecast are wireless but not open sou...

Re: MPD Server - Remote Client - Remote Control

MPD is quite flexible your Pi Zero can act as:

- a networked Pulseaudio sink
- local http streaming client
- MPD satellite (recommended)

Choose your poison :)

Re: music sorting

Sorting should be done on the client side. Not MPD's business. MPD returns database listings in no specific order.
MPD is a polite demon :D it reads ID3 date and tells the client. Ask RuneAudio developers for desired feature.

Re: Basic MPD tutorial?

First: use ncmpc or gmpc for local testing on your Fedora machine.

Second: install a MPD client on your phone. I like Droid MPD Client for Android - YMMV.
