Re: What are the proper values for mod.conf v0.19

Try to configure MPD for bitperfect playback http://www.musicpd.org/doc/user/advanced_usage.html Disable PulseAudio (RTFM of your linux distribution for further information) and reboot machine. Generic mpd.conf audio_output { type "alsa" name "Your ALSA device" device "hw:0,0" #or device "hw:1,0" YM...

Re: What are the proper values for mod.conf v0.19

@befuddled> 1st if your linux distribution uses pulse audio: stick with it. 2nd most - if not all - external soundcards supporting 44.1kHz and 48 kHz sampling rates. no need for resampling. 3rd MPD is *NOT* a "best sounding" whatever. it uses standard libraries for decoding, output streaming.

Re: Connecting to mpd over HTTP

@anthonybrice> mpc talks to the daemon on localhost port 6600 (default). If you want to connect from your Arch client to Ubuntu (MPD server) type on Arch mpc -h <Ubuntu name or IP> without "<" and ">". MPD uses port 6600 for control not for streaming. Check out mpc manpages for further reading. Best...

Re: mpd breaks after shutting off external dac

Works fine with MPD 0.19.9, ALSA and Kernel 3.16 using a USB DAC. No other audio_outputs are configured in mpd.conf.

Re: MPD dislikes Alsa mono mixdown

Problem solved :D It was a wrong ALSA configuration: I tried to mix audio without defining a mixer... /etc/asound.conf pcm.usb { type hw card 1 # your ALSA device } pcm.usb_dmix { type dmix ipc_key 1024 ipc_key_add_uid 1 ipc_perm 0666 slave { pcm "usb" rate 44100 # dmix default is 48k channels 2 } b...

Re: MPD dislikes Alsa mono mixdown

Thanks for your reply, max. I'm not sure if it is a problem of MPD so I didn't file a bug report. Backtrace is on it's way.

Beste regards,

MPD dislikes Alsa mono mixdown

For simple multizone background music, a single stereo channel should be used per zone. The basic idea is an Alsa mixdown. /etc/asound.conf pcm.!default mono_left pcm.mono_left { type route slave.pcm "hw:1" ttable { 0.0 0.5 # in-channel 0, out-channel 0, 50% volume 1.0 0.5 # in-channel 1, out-channe...

Re: USB DAC error

I installed musicpd with alsa on lubuntu 14.04 (64 bit) with onboard and usb sound. No problem with changing als units. Perhaps http://alsa.opensrc.org/MultipleCards#How_to_choose_a_particular_order_for_multiple_installed_cards might help. Otherwise please post output from cat /proc/asound/cards A l...
