Re: PCM plays fine but DSD files [dff & dsf] do not...

Old versions of MPD used to hangup on the end of some dsf / dff files. It was supposed to be fixed in current version. Maybe you should open a bug here:

Re: PCM plays fine but DSD files [dff & dsf] do not...

Check the CPU utilization when this happens. Do you have to restart MPD? DOes it happens only with dsf / dff files?

Re: PCM plays fine but DSD files [dff & dsf] do not...

Can you try changing your output to: audio_output { type "alsa" name "My ALSA Device" dsd_usb "yes" device "hw:CARD=Audio,DEV=0" } Or: audio_output { type "alsa" name "My ALSA Device" dsd_usb "yes" device "plughw:CARD=Audio,DEV=0" } Remember to restart mpd after every change.

Re: Mono/Stereo Mix?

Try adding something like this to your audio output in the conf file:

format "44100:16:1"

Re: gmpc on multiple machines issue?

I don't believe the issue is with GMPC. You will need to have your music stored in a centralized location (NAS) and have each of your computers access it over the network. You can potentially install MPD on each computer and have it play locally.

Re: MPD on ubuntu

Also, 0.18.9 is not available for Ubuntu. Did you compile it yourself?

Post your log file. Ensure that you have set your log to "verbose" in the conf file.

Re: Clarification about usage of "albumartist"-tag needed

I see. There is no hierarchy within the tags. Depends on the ID3 version, not many will support "\\" as a separator and not many will read it successfully. Regardless, depends on your client, if you search for "Armstrong" you should get all the albums by him as well as albums he was tagged with othe...

Re: Clarification about usage of "albumartist"-tag needed

I really don't know why you don't like individual artists?! The music-player which i use (MPD, Foobar2000) support it perfectly and it's very practical: Take a album with Luis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald as artists - What would you take as artist, if not taking a split artist? I want to see this ...

Re: Does MPD recognize tags ?

GMPC is installed on your desktop and not where you have installed MPD. Think of GMPC as a remote control for your MPD/Pi installation.

Re: Does MPD recognize tags ?

Nope. You can let GMPC fetch the covers automatically. There is also a way to specify a music directory (if mounted locally) and GMPC will search your music folder for a cover.jpg file.

Re: MPD doesn't see files with special characters

It looks like an issue with mpg123 unable to read the files. Can you play these files? Can you convert them to wav and then back to mp3 and try again.

Re: MPD doesn't see files with special characters

Run MPD with log set to "verbose" and scan your media (update). Paste the log file here.
