Re: MPD on ubuntu

Also, 0.18.9 is not available for Ubuntu. Did you compile it yourself?

Post your log file. Ensure that you have set your log to "verbose" in the conf file.

Re: Clarification about usage of "albumartist"-tag needed

I see. There is no hierarchy within the tags. Depends on the ID3 version, not many will support "\\" as a separator and not many will read it successfully. Regardless, depends on your client, if you search for "Armstrong" you should get all the albums by him as well as albums he was tagged with othe...

Re: Clarification about usage of "albumartist"-tag needed

I really don't know why you don't like individual artists?! The music-player which i use (MPD, Foobar2000) support it perfectly and it's very practical: Take a album with Luis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald as artists - What would you take as artist, if not taking a split artist? I want to see this ...

Re: Does MPD recognize tags ?

GMPC is installed on your desktop and not where you have installed MPD. Think of GMPC as a remote control for your MPD/Pi installation.

Re: Does MPD recognize tags ?

Nope. You can let GMPC fetch the covers automatically. There is also a way to specify a music directory (if mounted locally) and GMPC will search your music folder for a cover.jpg file.

Re: MPD doesn't see files with special characters

It looks like an issue with mpg123 unable to read the files. Can you play these files? Can you convert them to wav and then back to mp3 and try again.

Run MPD with log set to "verbose" and scan your media (update). Paste the log file here.

Re: MPD doesn't see files with special characters

Use the latest stable version (0.18.9) from here:

http://www.musicpd.org/news/2014/03/mpd ... -released/

You will have to compile it from source.

Re: MPD bind_to_address and db_file setting errors

You should upgrade to the latest version if you can. Now, do the following: 1. Kill MPD 2. Run ps ax | grep mpd and see that it is not running 3. Run netstat -na | grep 6600 to see if the port is used You will have to troubleshoot these things first under your OS prior to troubleshooting MPD. 4. Sta...

Re: MPD supports SACD-ISO's?

Max, Although MPD can read DFF and DSF files (both are containers for DSD), there is no way to read an SACD-ISO file. The SACD-ISO file is an ISO image of the SACD data (A physical representation of the DSD stream). If I add a SACD-ISO to my library, MPD ignores it as well as the folder it is in. I ...

I am not familiar with that architecture. You will need to get the specs from whoever makes the A300.
