It does support FLAC, though. :)

Re: mpd stops communicating with ALSA after system upgrade

I believe you can't use "type plug" in "ctl" definitions in asound.conf.

Re: mpd configuration: choosing device

ALSA's device numbering can be looked at using, for instance, "cat /proc/asound/devices" or "aplay -l".

Re: which devices can I use?

You'll probably need to route the audio through something that mixes the audio streams from the two programs. Common solutions are dmixer (part of ALSA; most distributions should automatically use this if you do not specify an ALSA device name in the config) and Pulseaudio (I don't know if squeezeli...

Re: Slight issue streaming audio

omega1: sorry, didn't see your question before now. I can't help you with your problem, but I can tell you that the problem is not with MPC. Think of MPC as a remote control for MPD – it doesn't play anything itself, it just sends commands to MPD.

Re: RTMP streaming with faad2

Hi shirase, thanks for taking the time to contribute! To get the maintainer's (Max aka. cirrus) attention, it's probably best if you send the patch to the developer mailing list (musicpd-dev-team@lists.sourceforge.net). He'll probably appreciate one of these: Uncompressed unified diff(s), ideally ge...

Re: Exploratory questions on using MPD for many users

Multiple MPDs using the same database is a sure recipe for disaster. You'll have to come up with something fancy to do this. Chances are MPD isn't really a great fit for your scenario. Sadly I don't have anything concrete to offer.

New MPD website!

cirrus, the benevolent MPD maintainer and overlord, launched the new MPD website a few days ago, and I only just noticed now. I'm happy to see that it's much cleaner, faster-loading, and generally less annoying than the previous Wikia-based website. Thanks, cirrus!

Hmm, does it suck that badly even if MPD uses Tremor (the integer-only Vorbis decoder)?

Re: Play youtube audio

Tried it myself just now with a random video and it worked. It's possible that YouTube does some additional checks for some videos, e.g. videos that are restricted in one way or another; the error code from curl suggests that the server refuses to send the video stream. Have you tried with different...

From what I can see, there are at least two people with access to the git repository: mpd@gregf.org and kelwert@mtu.edu. In any case, you could try a pull request on Github for the repository...

How to actually get help

Hi and welcome! We'd love to be able to help everyone here, but some people make it very hard. Don't be those people and follow these simple guidelines: If you believe that MPD behaved incorrectly: explain what you did, what you thought should happen, and what happened instead. Post all relevant det...
