Re: MPD 0.20.6 - AIFF tags not showing up

.19 build has those plugins. I also tried a 0.20.6 build w/o audiofile and sndfile letting ffmpeg do the work and got same result -- no tags. Either way though, if files are corrupt eventually issues will arise. pi@rp3:~ $ mpd -V Music Player Daemon 0.19.19 . . . Decoders plugins: [mad] mp3 mp2 [mpg...

Re: MPD 0.20.6 - AIFF tags not showing up

Makes sense. Any clue why 0.19.19 picks up the tags even though 08 is corrupt? file: USB/VFAT-8GB2/Test_mixed/AIFF/Crookt, Crackt, Or Fly/08 The Wrong Soundings.aiff Last-Modified: 2017-03-15T17:19:12Z Time: 889 Artist: Gastr Del Sol Title: The Wrong Soundings Album: Crookt, Crackt, Or Fly Track: 8/...

Re: MPD 0.20.6 - AIFF tags not showing up

I don't know what kind of tags they are. The files were submitted to me by a user that was experiencing the issue. I can follow up with the user and find out what util was used to create the files if you would like. Here is link to zip containing two of the files. Track 08 tags do not show up. For r...

MPD 0.20.6 - AIFF tags not showing up

Hi, Running MPD 0.20.6 and noticed that tags in a set of AIFF files that I use for testing are not being picked up during update. I swapped in a 0.19.19 binary that is compiled using same settings as for 0.20.6 and the tags appear. Using Raspberry Pi-3B, Raspbian Jessie-Lite 2016-03-18 release, 4-4-...

Software volume causing buzzing noise, ok w/hdwr volume

Hi, Having an odd issue where Software volume produces a constant, low level buzzing noise. Switching to hardware volume yields no buzzing noise. Was able to repro this noise using several different I2S DAC's and a USB DAC. Easiest to hear when using headphones and volume is set to 1%. As volume is ...

Add HLS format support to MPD

Hi, I get a lot of requests from UK users of Moode Audio Player to get BBC radio 320K HLS streams working but it appears that the format is not yet supported in 0.19.1x MPD. It is not listed under [ffmpeg] in MPD -V I see though that avconv supports it. root@rp3:~# avconv -formats | grep hls avconv ...

Trying to understand MPD vs ALSA volume

Hi, I'm coder for Moode Audio Player and am trying to understand how the mapping works between the 0 - 100 scale that MPD uses and the 0 - 100% scale that alsamixer uses in the hope of finding a solution for the issue described below. The issue I'm experiencing is that for some audio devices that ha...

Re: MPD database update slow with ffmpeg enabled

Good point. Let me rephrase the question to:
"Is there a way to prevent ffmpeg probe of the file during database update while still enabling the files to be added and be playable?"

Re: MPD database update slow with ffmpeg enabled

When ffmpeg plugin is disabled the db update does not find/add any of the ALAC (m4a) files.

MPD database update slow with ffmpeg enabled

Hi, Using MPD 0.19.1 installed from jessie repo. Music dir contains ALAC (m4a) files and mpd.conf contains decoder {plugin "ffmpeg" enabled "yes"} to be able to play the files. I'm seeing the line below before each m4a file in mpd.log during a database update. ffmpeg/mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2: max_ana...

Re: What are the conf settings for using sox instead of src?

Hey Max,

I see in the source code

// converter example is "soxr very high", we want the "very high" part

so I'm good now with the syntax, and i have it working :)

Re: What are the conf settings for using sox instead of src?

So, you don't actually know whether the resampler worked. All you know is that your sound chip will play 44.1 kHz, but you don't know the reason for it. I believe your conclusion is completely wrong. If the resampler didn't work, MPD wouldn't play at all. What you see can have various reasons. A ve...

Re: What are the conf settings for using sox instead of src?

Hi Max,

"Neither worked" means that during playback using mpd.conf settings:
audio_output_format "88200:16:2"
samplerate_converter ""soxr very high"

when I examined the output from:
cat /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/sub0/hw_params

the rate was still 44100

Re: What are the conf settings for using sox instead of src?

Yes, of course I read the manual.

I tried setting samplerate_converter "soxr very high", also tried "soxr high" and neither worked...

Does the samplerate_converter setting only accept libsamplerate types? If so, then how do I specify to use sox resampler in the config file?

Re: Odd bit depths being reported by MPD

Most appreciated Max!!

Your response confirms what I suspected was going on, but I did not know the parts about decode bit depth in libmad and libsndfile. It's very helpful to know that now :)

Of the two plugins libsndfile and libaudiofile, which is preferred?

Regards,
TC

Odd bit depths being reported by MPD

Hi, Does anyone know how MPD determines the bit depth of a source media, and whether it is performing bit depth conversion in certain scenarios? Attached is a table listing different media and their encoded, MPD and output formats. MPD format info is obtained by running MPD status cmd from a telnet....
