Solid Run HummingBoard I2eX + ArchLinux + MPD very promising

I am playing a new HummingBoard and have Arch and MPD up and running via the coaxial SPDIF output. Pretty cool so far. I will post an update later in the week.

Re: Excellent! 2015 MPD Authors on GitHub

All: Rasi pointed out that my above comment may be viewed as sarcastic. [He is probably a bit cynical. 8^) ] My intention was definitely NOT sarcastic. It takes a very high level of professional maturity to remove oneself from the spotlight of being the principal author and to place themselves as ju...

tremby, Could you attack this request with a few additional directories? I typically have the following directories in my music library: musicstore/dsd musicstore/itunes musicstore/cdrips <== ripped to wav then converted to FLAC by the Naim UnitiServer musicstore/hires musicstore/mp3 musicstore/wav ...

Re: Playback of 192/24 Raspberry Pi

hagensieker, If you can (re)post in the forum message the "mpd --version" and "mpd.conf" they won't age out from the pastebin. I believe you can attach a trimmed down verbose log as a file to the post. If you you see any obvious messages in the verbose log you can paste them directly into the post. ...

Excellent! 2015 MPD Authors on GitHub

Max, While browsing the source today, I noticed the 2015 AUTHORS on MPD's GitHub repo is a simple list of contributors . https://github.com/MaxKellermann/MPD/blob/master/AUTHORS I then took a look at the history of AUTHORS and noticed on October 30th, 2013 you changed the format to remove the specif...

Re: MPD build dependency for libmikmod2-dev

Side note:

Rerunning the above list of installs WITHOUT libexpat1-dev and libsmbclient-dev completed just fine.

Then I ran "apt-get install libexpat1-dev" by itself and it installed. Same for "apt-get install libsmbclient-dev".

Thanks nautibuoy,

The ESS slide deck is a good one. It is one of the reasons folks like the Sabre DAC story.

MPD build dependency for libmikmod2-dev

Just checking if others are seeing this with the latest Debian Jessie. Note, selecting 'libmikmod-dev' instead of 'libmikmod2-dev' I also got two "Unable to locate packages" which I need to run down. root@hostname:/home/blahblah# sudo apt-get install g++ automake autoconf \ > libmad0-dev libmpg123-d...

Re: How To: Set up MPD to use a UPnP source [just a stub]

Thanks Rasi,

I need to circle back around on this. I installed the libupnp-dev, ran ./configure, make clean, make and make install but the upnp was not listed.

How To: Set up MPD to use a UPnP source [just a stub]

Hi All, This is currently a stub for "How To: Set up MPD to use a UPnP source" What I currently know [and that is not much]: 1) Add the following to the mpd.conf: neighbors { plugin "upnp" } database { plugin "upnp" } 2) On my install [init.d based] I get an error when I comment out db_file.

Max:

I reread the TroubleShooting section of http://www.musicpd.org and the section on capturing the backtrace probably could use a bit of expansion. http://mpd.wikia.com/wiki/Music_Player_ ... oubleshoot

Rasi:

Is this something you could help with?

Thanks Rasi,

That is a great note. Maybe we can create a sticky post on how to get a proper backtrace. I know I fought long and hard to get one in the past.

How's does MPD 'know' it can output DSD natively?

Max or Rasi, In 0.19.x how does MPD determine it can output DSD natively instead of falling back to converting DSD to PCM? "Native DSD playback is used automatically if available. ... DSD to PCM conversion is the fallback if DSD cannot be used directly." I created a feature request in Mantas to manu...

Re: Walkthrough: Install MPD from Source as a daemon on Ubun

I added the /etc/init.d/mpd file from my test pc to the original post.

1) Download the file.
2) Un-GZip and rename to "mpd".
3) Read the contents of the file to make sure you 'know' what it will do.
4) Place in /etc/inet.d directory.

Remember YMMV.
