Re: convert PCM to DSD on air in MPD

You did not answer my questions. But from your reply, I can guess that the answer to "How do you convert PCM to DSD?" is: you expect MPD to do this conversion. But MPD can't do that. And it's pointless, because it wastes lots of CPU for a conversion that loses a lot of quality.

Re: convert PCM to DSD on air in MPD

So you say it supports DSD512, but you try to force MPD to play DSD128. That's different. How do you play those DSF files? Does MPD use native DSD for that? Is that DSD512 or DSD128? How do you convert PCM to DSD? (And what's the point of that? This loses quality.) Never say "doesn't work" without p...

Re: convert PCM to DSD on air in MPD

DSD works only if your sound driver supports DSD. And if it does, you don't need to configure anything special in MPD - MPD will automatically use it. So if it doesn't work, it means that your sound driver cannot do DSD.

Re: exception: Input plugin 'ffmpeg' is unavailable: No protocol

You don't need to install FFmpeg, because it's linked statically into mpd.exe. But I guess MPD's FFmpeg build needs more compile-time options - write a bug report on GitHub, and I'll check it out.
What will you need the FFmpeg input plugin for?

Re: [SOLVED]No audio output

That's similar to what I suggested, but using a systemd service is better than what is described in the tutorial.

Re: No audio output

This probably happens because you run PulseAudio as your own user, but you run MPD as a different user. PulseAudio is designed in a way that allows only one user to use it (by default). There are tricks around this, but this forum is about MPD, not PulseAudio, and your problem is specific to PulseAu...

Re: No audio output

Since i use MPD as a service with systemd i cannot pass the --verbose tag (or if i can i don't know how to do it using systemd). https://www.musicpd.org/help/ -> "read the manual and its troubleshooting chapter" -> https://mpd.readthedocs.io/en/stable/user.html#troubleshooting -> "Check the log fil...

Re: Old IRC URL in the forum sidebar

Thanks ... yes, the navigation in the forum is an ugly kludge. Somebody who thought a forum was important set it up like 10 years ago, and was never seen again. I never thought a forum was important, I hate web forums, but now it's up to me to maintain it, *sigh* Since I spend a good amount of time ...

Re: MPD on Raspberry Pi Stopped Working

Don't configure MPD vioa asound.conf. Use a "hw:" device, after figuring out which "hw:" device you want to use.
For further help, see https://www.musicpd.org/help/ and paste the required information.

Re: Android MPD

Usually, it's the root of the built-in storage partition, not the SD card. There has been lots of confusion on Android about this; the API is called "external storage" (= SD card), but when the first Android phones without SD card slot came, the manufacturers made the internal storage the "external ...

That's documented here: https://mpd.readthedocs.io/en/stable/us ... on-android
TLDR: create mpd.conf on the root of the storage partition.
