Re: Installed, but not working

MPD 0.19.12 is an ancient, unsupported version. Sorry.

Re: I made a music visualizer based on MPD fifo output

When you write a plugin, remember to always compile with "-Dtest=yes", which will enable the build of "run_encoder". This program runs an encoder plugin on the command-line, reading PCM from stdin and output on stdout, without carrying around the rest of MPD. Can be helpful for development and debug...

Re: I made a music visualizer based on MPD fifo output

Read data from MPD in chunks (I guess this should be done through the external API) What external API? There's just one external API: the MPD protocol, but it cannot access any audio data. I guess this falls in the "neighbor plugins" category No! Neighbor plugins can locate nearby storages (such as...

Re: I made a music visualizer based on MPD fifo output

producing a FFT output is quite heavy on the CPU and I think it would be best if left to the visualizer/client. Why do you think so? With your approach, being limited to running MPD and your client on the same machine, it's going to be the very same CPU... Doing FFT inside MPD means only a very red...

Re: I made a music visualizer based on MPD fifo output

The FIFO output is a very bad idea; it works only if the client runs on the same machine, requires explicit configuration, consumes too much CPU and there is no format negotation, which makes it fragile. What can we do to support visualizers without kludges like the FIFO plugin? Maybe can we impleme...

Re: MPD: NFS access music library with mount options

That's not possible. MPD doesn't actually "mount" the NFS server; it uses libnfs to talk the NFS protocol in user space, without the kernel's assistance, and so the kernel's documented mount options are not applicable here. There might be similar options in libnfs (I did not check), but MPD cannot c...

Why not. If you need help with hacking the code, just ask. On Freenode, there's channel #mpd-dev for MPD developers.

Re: Status audio field format for DSD

Read The Fine Manual! Here https://www.musicpd.org/doc/html/protocol.html#querying-mpd-s-status it says "audio: The format emitted by the decoder plugin during playback, format: *samplerate:bits:channels*. Check the user manual for a detailed explanation." Here https://www.musicpd.org/doc/html/user....

Re: MPD Unmounting Music Library Drive

MPD cannot unmount your SD card. Even if it had code to do so, it wouldn't have the required permissions to do that. I have no idea what is causing your problem, but I'm fairly certain it has nothing to do with MPD. btw. reinstalling MPD never solves any problem. That is just doing random things, ho...

Re: cue sheet and MPD library?

There's a feature request for exactly this: https://github.com/MusicPlayerDaemon/MPD/issues/39

I agree that this is a good idea, but havn't gotten around to implement this yet. Volunteer to help and submit code for it welcome.

This forum is about MPD and not about Samba. I can't assist with Samba specific problems.

Your Samba server tells MPD that the requested file does not exist. So, does it exist or not?

Re: problem with connection of other instance of MPD

skidoo is right. Your configuration explicitly disables network access!
I wonder why you do such a configuration when it's the opposite of what you're trying to do. This is not the default, after all. This must have been your explicit decision.

Re: Is MPD on windows reliabke?

Is it possible to compile a self contained version with no dependance on windows? (static linking) Yes. And actually, the mpd.exe binary which you can download on the website is statically linked; it requires no DLLs other than the standard Windows system DLLs. - How do you determine the possible v...
