Just so there's no confusion, the configuration should look like this:

audio_output {
  type	"osx"
  name	"CoreAudio"
  device	"SDAC"
  mixer_type	"software"
}
Note the addition of the device to the name.

Add this line to your audio_output block:

device "SDAC"
If this doesn't work, try the device name that is displayed in System Configuration (should be the same, though).
