Re: Pulse Audio - Mono Output Preferred -- Method?

DOH!
I realized afterward it could be done in the Ubuntu OS, probably easier.

Pulse Audio - Mono Output Preferred -- Method?

I'm using Pulse Audio.
The system is stereo, but the speakers are so widely set that you can't hear both at the same time. It's better if the sound output is mono.

Except, I'm not sure how to specify mono output for Pulse Audio.

I'd be grateful for suggestions.

Re: Cron job not working as expected.

Okay, if insert isn't going to work, perhaps I can go about adding PSA's using a different method. * Fade out and pause. * Clear the playlist * Load a new playlist that contains, just BHZ_PSAs/BHZ-Restrooms-PSA.mp3 (or another PSA, determined by random assignment). * Play and fade in. * Wait for the...

Why not install the RuneAudioUI image for your flavor of architecture here?

Re: Cron job not working as expected.

Thanks for your reply. My responses below. Do not use absolute paths - mpc insert is relative to your music_directory. Is your mp3 file in your MPD datebase? MPD does inserts from database to playlist. $ mpc -q --wait insert Applescal\ -\ From\ A\ to\ Sea/01\ -\ The\ Winning\ Theme.mp3 Works on comm...

Cron job not working as expected.

I have a Dell Vostro 1000 with 0.5GB RAM. Linux Mint runs a bit slow, but it's fast enough to serve a local playlist of mp3's. I'm am attempting a cron job to insert a random public service announcement (PSA) at certain times of the day. The cronlog shows that that timing works, and that cron in per...

Check out this tutorial. While it's a bit outdated, it covers the basics.

Re: RuneUI as standalone mpd client

I think that RuneUI is very nice. It would be great to have separate web client for mpd, especially working with php built-in server. Don't you think? It looks like RuneAudio is already built to work with MPD. Why not buy a Raspberry Pi, download the archlinux image with RuneAudio and mpd installed...

Yup -- I conflated two totally different SQL packages didn't I? (Sorry.)

I'll definitely give it a shot next.

Thanks!

Re: Local Jukebox (No Internet) with PSA's in park setting

How do I fix this? Missing developer (*-dev) packages? Please check configure output and logfile. Excellent. Done. mpd and mpc now work as expected. Thank you! Only the mysqlite module would not install. All of the others did fine. Although I had installed sqlite, libsqlite0, and libsqlite0-dev it ...

Re: Local Jukebox (No Internet) with PSA's in park setting

Please assume I have the lastest version of mpd and mpc, as Linux Mint is set to automatically install whatever needs updating. I dont believe that. According to http://community.linuxmint.com/software/view/mpd the latest MPD version in Linux Mint is 0.18.7, i.e. the package hasn't been updated for...

Re: Local Jukebox (No Internet) with PSA's in park setting

If you see a crash, report a bug. Posting on the forum will not solve your problem. However in this case, I believe your mpc version is outdated. It is annoying that you don't post your version numbers when you post about a problem, though. Max, Thanks for your reply. Linux Mint latest, Cinnamon UI...

Re: Local Jukebox (No Internet) with PSA's in park setting

Okay, I've followed the directions in the Ultimate MPD Guide. I've also installed mpc, ncmpcpp and gmpc successfully. I am impressed with the various clients. And commandline access is sweet. I've got it set to play music out of ~/Music/ in the ~/.mpd/mpd.conf file. Everything works as expected. My ...

Re: Local Jukebox (No Internet) with PSA's in park setting

Much of that can be done by simple "mpc" commands run by a scheduling daemon such as "cron". That is, start playback is just "mpc play"; inserting an announcement is "mpc insert ...". Some of the rest is what MPD does already: after reboot, it resumes where it stopped last time; its random mode ens...

Local Jukebox (No Internet) with PSA's in park setting

Greetings! New to MPD, not new to linux. I'm interested in a player/script that will do the following: Start automatically at 9:00am, stop at 5:30pm. Insert a series of general Public Service Announcements (PSA's) every few songs. (We're open from 9 to 5, Bathrooms are to the right, Join us for a ce...
