Re: DSD silence pattern" (e.g. 0x69) instead of "zeros"

I've done some tests with 2 devices: - 9018k2m DIY Dac with Diyinhk XMOS USB board - Aune S16 (XMOS based) Transport: Latest ArchlinuxARM with Odroid C2 ( kernel 4.14.10 ) and official self-compiled MPD 0.20.14 . - With the DIY dac everything is fine in both DoP and Native DSD mode . I used it after...

Re: USB DAC Configuration Problem on Linux

There was indeed something wrong with that PC (conflicting installations of ALSA and PULSE or something like that). However, I set it up completely new now, installed Arch Linux 4.14, MPD 0.20.12 and configured audio_output { type "alsa" name "Manhattan" device "hw:1,0" auto_resample "no" auto_form...

Re: Raspberry pi 3 b - problem DSD native

@sbeuz, based on my experience, your issue most probably has to do with an older mpd version that usually debian project provides. If you have a look here: http://git.musicpd.org/cgit/master/mpd.git/plain/NEWS You will see fixes for DSD_U32 even in version 0.20.2. I am not sure if raspbian provides ...

Re: DSD silence pattern" (e.g. 0x69) instead of "zeros"

Just a quick question because my coding knowledge is almost zero. I noticed that months ago the silence pattern was changed to 0x69. Does this affect DoP or is it only for native DSD? I keep getting pops/clicks when I change tracks using DoP and I am trying to understand if MPD should block this noi...

Re: Syntax for resampler?

I am doing several tests having a terminal opened with: tail -f /var/log/mpd.log What I realized is that when changing songs, I managed to get soxr information only once: Mar 31 14:06 : alsa_output: opened hw:1,0 type=HW Mar 31 14:06 : alsa_output: buffer: size=90..131072 time=255..371520 Mar 31 14:...

Re: Syntax for resampler?

Hi all, I have latest mpd 0.20.6 installed: http://pastebin.ca/3789313 It's been compiled with libsoxr support and sox is enabled with the following configuration (as per musicpd documentation): resampler { plugin "soxr" quality "very high" } audio_output { enabled "yes" type "alsa" name "Aune S16" ...

Re: Ultimate sound quality in MPD

I have been using MPD since 2014 and have been creating Archphile distro for many embedded devices for years now.. I tried many times to apply system tweaks and optimisations that in theory could improve the overall performance and what I always realise is that nothing changes with all these tests. ...

you will have to install git, in order to get the source code locally. What is the distro you are using?

Re: anybody here uses a raspberry pi 's i2s output?

If you remove the DoP option from mpd.conf, you will be able to hear your DSD files, but you will have to keep in mind that the method that will be used is DSD to PCM conversion.

Re: anybody here uses a raspberry pi 's i2s output?

You cannot use DoP or native dsd mode over the i2s of a raspberry pi. AFAIK rpi over i2s supports up to 24/192 PCM.

Re: How's does MPD 'know' it can output DSD natively?

Of course I did not ask for support of mpd forks. All the outputs I have posted here are from vanilla mpd 0.19.9 . This is how i built it: https://github.com/archphile/packages/blob/master/mpd-archphile/PKGBUILD I just mentioned mpd-dsd patch for 0.19.9 because by testing it I was able to see DSD_U3...

Re: How's does MPD 'know' it can output DSD natively?

We agree max. the first output is with dop enabled (SR 176400). The second is with dop disabled. What I see here is that when dop is disabled the output is not native dsd as I expected with mpd 0.19.9. Latest alsa supports DSD_U32_BE and if I have understood correctly, that should be the correct for...

Re: How's does MPD 'know' it can output DSD natively?

My USB interface (DIYINHK) supports native dsd. I am doing my tests on ArchlinuxARM/Udoo Quad with kernel 4, alsa 1.0.29 and vanilla mpd 0.19.9. I have removed the dop "yes" option from mpd.conf and I can't reproduce in native dsd mode: when dop is enabled, the output is: cat /proc/asound/card0/pcm0...

Re: SACD ISO playback in MPD

Hi manisiutkin,

I managed to build it successfuly with sacd iso support using in mpd.conf

decoder {
plugin "sacdiso"
dstdec_threads "4"
edited_master "true"
lsbitfirst "false"
}

Will I need a new decoder section for dvdaiso?

Re: SACD ISO playback in MPD

Hi manisiutkin!

Thank you very much for this feature!

I managed to build this version in my archlinuxarm box and it plays sacd isos fine.

I hope that this code will be a part of official mpd development tree very soon.

Cheers,

Michael
